Our Story
Welcome to Heizer Creek Farms! I am Michelle McGhee, founder of HCF. I started making candles in 2001 as a hobby that grew into a small seasonal business. My kids were small then and loved to help! and to this day, they support me and are always the encouragement I need.
My mission at HCF is spreading the word that God is the one true light in the world. I love home and family and remembering old times as well as welcoming new memories. I believe smells can trigger your thoughts of long ago and special times in life. I hope HCF can do that for you!
Heizer Creek Farms Candle Co., LLC was established in 2020 for the love I have for West Virginia. Heizer Creek is in Poca, WV, a very small town in the metro valley region of western West Virginia. Growing up we would go to "the farm" and Dad would cut firewood, etc., etc. and I remember my brother and sister playing in the creek. Lots of memories. Memories of fires in the fireplace, baking in the kitchen, fresh cut grass, playing in the snow and being home for the holidays.
HCF makes wax melts, smelly bears (wax dipped bear), and dough bowl candles as well as bakery style candles that look and smell good enough to eat! Each are hand-poured/handmade in small batches, packaged with care, then tagged with scripture. I have tested and tested different waxes and wicks and fragrances Galore! HCF is a dream come true and I am so excited about the future.
